How I Made a Cool Logo Out of Just Coffee
For the last several years I have had the same square business cards. I feel that having a physical reminder of who you are and what you do that can be handed out to potential clients is super important. The cards that I have been using, while perfectly fine, do not properly represent the type of work that I have been pursuing in recent years.
One day I was struck with an idea, what if instead of having my business cards be my logo over the top of an image I took, what if I took product photo style images like my business has been focused on in recent years, but the subject itself was the logo. The concept is to take everyday items and do a “flatlay” style still life where the subjects are carefully positioned such that the positive or negative space looks like my logo.
As a proof of concept I took the time to create this kind of image with coffee beans. I figured even if it doesn’t work for my personal project, it could be a cool proof of concept to pitch to coffee roasters or cafes in the future. After over 30 minutes of carefully positioning beans with a pair of tweezers I was able to capture an image.
I’m pretty happy with the final product, what do you think? Is the concept worth pursuing futher?
