All in Godox/Flashpoint
One day I was struck with an idea, what if instead of having my business cards be my logo over the top of an image I took, what if I took product photo style images like my business has been focused on in recent years, but the subject itself was the logo.
Inspired by the catalog images on the website for the company making her nursing garments my girlfriend wanted images on a clean white background, both traditional headshots, and catalog style full length images.
During a product photography shoot at the beginning of this last spring I was looking for exciting ways to create additional visual interest in some of the the shots. With the limitation of not being able to take the item with me out into the world I sought to create some beautiful images using a hand crafted sword.
I wanted to capture the warm natural vibes of this beautiful mug from Soul Pine Pottery while drawing attention to the texture of the clay’s surface.
To start off my year with making something new I decided to take a new self-portrait and take you along to see the whole process by showing how I take a portrait with my favorite lighting set-up from start to finish!
As I wrapped up my time with the X1D I reached a series of realizations about what using a piece of equipment worth more than car really means.
With a recent wave of body positive videos and articles of people wearing body paint and body glitter out in public a friend of mine wanted to give the concept a shot and do a photo shoot wearing a shirt made of glitter.
A series of stills of a variety of beautiful flora, suspended weightlessly in the black, the texture almost touchable in it’s three dimensionality.
When I got a new phone it seemed the perfect occasion to photograph a cell phone in a way I had never seen before. I wanted to show off the fact that the phone is moisture resistant, so decided to photograph it floating in a cloud of mist.
One day while looking through my portfolio I realized I didn’t have a single photo of food, and decided I need to change that.
In my search to find out the best ways to photograph difficult products I have photographed a good number of bottles discovering which ones are more receptive to what kinds of light, this bottle has the text and logos printed directly on the bottle making it especially challenging.
This image was another photo spurred on by a hole in my portfolio, I realized that every product I had photographed was either unisex or geared towards male consumers. Hoping to rectify this I decided to photograph a cosmetic product.
These images were a result of my first ever shoot with the Flashpoint Xplor 600, my most powerful light to date.
