The Last of the Fall Colors
With Fall coming to a close and the last of the leaves falling off the trees I decided to go out and capture the color before it's gone for the year. After grabbing my camera I headed out to the train tracks at Waukewan Beach, and found my first image looking out across the water as soon as I stepped out of the parking lot.
Looking around for another photo I found an opportunity in looking down the train tracks, with the color of the leaves on either side and the high contrast of the sun approaching the horizon behind the clouds in the background. With my first image down the tracks looking great I realized that it would also make a great self portrait and thumbnail for the video.
Feeling frustrated by not finding more opportunities for imagery I decided to move on from the first location and try to see if there were better opportunities over in the local park. After a short drive I arrived at Swasey park only to find that the sunset was rapidly approaching and I had to rush to try to capture the shafts of light coming through the trees before it faded.
I ended up being happier with the video I capture at my second location than I was with the photos, but overall the outing was a fitting end to the fall season, and I ended up with some of my favorite nature footage to date.
